This past year I gave away my watercolors and tempera paints. The watercolors lasted me since I first purchased them in NY state back in 2012. Back then, at the art store, I couldn’t imagine the then upcoming road-trip which led to 6500 miles and then giving up that car.

I only used 1/3 to 1/2 of the pencils.

This was after 100 Hummingbirds…painted murals and matchboxes…

In Portland, I met another artist (at an art store) and he opened my eyes about what I was putting into the water. I stuck with watercolors and tempera paint…and experimented with beet juice and tumeric.

So in 2018, I’m not so much into painting. I’ve been sketching (and cannot stop sketching — graphite and ink) and will use vegetable-based paints if I decide to paint.

I have a very small collection of paintings remaining…they won’t be available to sell.

I love to paint, but no longer am a painter*…

Oh, and there’s the Hummingbird 61 that I’m adding to the December Blog Celebration…it’s one of my favorites…truly a collectible…
